You know you're in too deep with the nerds

When you're watching Mythbusters on tv and they say 30,000 pounds of pressure....UMMMM, pounds are a unit of force. Is it 30,000 Pascals, or are you talking force?... Wow, that's sad.

How about Illinois and their quality win over Indiana. Finally we got ourselves a good win.

Go Colts in the Super Bowl. I have nothing but respect for Tony Dungy and I can't wait to see him coach for the Super Bowl he so very much deserves. Now, I will be happy for the Bears fans too if they win, but I can't say I want them to...lol

I just had a seminar class today, and they talked about jobs and how the search process goes for jobs, and I realized how ridiculous it can be. You really gotta sell yourself. I'm not sure how that's gonna work for me. But I did get accepted for the GCM internship I applied for. Very exciting stuff. So now I've just got to raise my support and I'll be well on my way!

from a reluctant Packers fan

Congratulations to the Bears. It is very exciting for the fans, and to see them happy is a very cool thing. It's amazing how sports can galvanize an entire state just like that...Congratulations Bears!

Getting schooled

So it turns out I also have classes to attend here at the U of I. I'm currently signed up for 18 hours of classes, but I'm going to drop one of them. My current class selection is

ME 320: Heat Transfer
ME 330: Mechanics of Materials
ME 370: Mechanical Design I
ME 390: Seminar
Econ 103: Macroeconomics
Math 463: Statistics and Probability I

It should be a fun semester. My professors more and more seem excited to teach and that is great for learning. I really appreciate that. I enjoy this engineering thing right now and I am willing to stick it out. It is a good thing. I also got my computer fixed for my classes and it is great for taking notes and such on it. The program I use to organize my notes is phenomenal. I'm really working on keeping myself organized this semester, as I must support raise for my internship this summer, and organization will be very important for me. Sooooo....that's that.

Who says you can't go home?

I went home over break...Big surprise being a college student and all. It was good. It was relaxing, too relaxing at times. There was little structure, and it's nice to be back here on campus where I can have a bit of guiding light to my schedule. I got to see Jennee 3 times over break and that was a blast and also very excitingly, I got to hang with Jeff Spencer and start some grandiose plans for the future. It is good to know people are doing well. I can't wait for this semester to kick off and check out my new home. My Home Fellowship is going to be a lot of fun. This is where Illini Life is going. It is our new small group structure, and it is going to be very relational. I am excited about the guys, really all of them. Younger, my age, older, they all are exciting to me and I can't wait to hang with them on a regular basis. On top of this, there are Mosaic Groups. These are outreach oriented and just hanging with people where you want to...whatever the cause may be. I'm considering organizing some quality basketball, either in a league, or at least getting together once a week to hoop it up. I'll let you know what develops.

It's magical

Let me tell you that 2005 and on have been some of the most frustrating and ridiculous years in sports for me. First the White Sox win the World Series, then the Cardinals win the World Series. And now the Bears are two wins from being Super Bowl champs. This on top of Boston sports being phenomenal with the Patriots and the Red Sox means that I am left in the cold with my Cubs and Packers. Heck, Illini basketball is slacking. The only thing I have a huge hope for in the near future is Illini football, although we won't have The Chief anymore (that's another story all together...) It has been fun to be caught up in the frenzy though, as depressing as it may be. I enjoy seeing people get caught up and enjoying their teams success. They are straight up happy and it is utterly amazing how rallying around a sports team can help a group of people come together. Now I am watching the Illini play on Paint the Hall Orange Day against the #3 Wisconsin Badgers and they just tied up the game. What an exciting thing sports is.

You don't wear a rosary

Yes, I am alive. Yes, you're reading this because you stumbled across it or you received notification that it was written. But I am alive and I had a good break from writing my life down for everybody. But now I'd like to get back to it. So in an effort to let you know what's going on, and to not make it seem tedious, I am gonna make it a series of short posts and unveil them all at once.

My first...it is good to be back in Champaign. It is sooooo good to be back with no pressure of finals for a while and a chance to restart. I like second semester more anyway because the weather just progresses to nicer and nicer and I have people I've already connected to and now I can grow in more one-on-one relationships with them and grow those awesome friendships. I'm also excited that Illini Life is starting our change with Home Fellowships. It is excellent.

As for the title, I got asked by a pan-handler for money a couple of days ago and he asked for gas money, when clearly gas wasn't his goal. He then threw down that he needed it in the name of Jesus, and maybe he did. Perhaps I shouldn't judge...but you just don't wear a rosary. It isn't a necklace...
