SOTD - 11 - Green Bay is doing a stellar job of rebuilding in this year's draft. We went from our initial 7 picks to 11 and we didn't lose much in position in the draft. We got rid of the cancerous Javon Walker and we got AJ HAWK!!!!!!!! booooooyyyyaaaaa. On top of that, we got some solid line help and I'm very excited about this season.

Thoughts in a different fashion

So iLife had our semi-formal tonight. It was great. It also opened up some thoughts in my heart. This blog has gone back and forth from updates to cool things I've found online to thoughts...this rolls in under the category of thoughts.

  • I keep getting picked up and torn down by God and I wonder why....Delight in the Lord and you will have the desires of your heart..so am I not delighting, is he waiting to give me things later, do I not know the desires of my heart?
  • I for some reason have some real desire to believe every lie thrown at me about me. The truth is hard to hold on to. Why is it that way? I guess I have to deal and these are where my real wounds and pains lie. In these categories of my life.
  • I love the peeps in my iTeam and beyond and they're the fellowship God has given to me and blessed me with.
  • I need to get my shtuff straight and know what is gonna matter to me and make me what God wants me to be...to cast aside the burdens and run the worthy race.
  • I feel as if people see me as 'that kid.' Especially in iLife. I feel as if I'm expected to be a kid and do the immature thing and not be taken seriously and that carries into a lot of aspects of my life.
Just some thoughts that I'd let you know are hittin' my head right now. I would love to let you know what all is up there, but I must guard my heart etc blahdy blah blah.

In conclusion, the semi-formal was a blast. Don't let this stuff let you believe otherwise. I had a lot of fun making silly dances up and just hanging with my friends. I really did have loads of fun. Check out the pics from it on facebook for proof. I'm out.

SOTD - 5 - The Packers have the 5th overall pick in the NFL draft tomorrow and I really want AJ Hawk. I hope nobody takes him earlier than us, as the Texans already messed things up by signing Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush. T'will be interesting come tomorrow...

201 posts later

Well, we've laughed, we've cried, we've yelled, and we've wasted time. Right now is the latter. I'm playing with Google video lately. It allows me to put videos on the web for people to see things I've made from slideshows to movies with friends to things I've done. Now I have figured out how to embed videos into my blog. But if you search for my name on video.google.com, you'll find a couple of videos and you can find videos from the same submitter. It's awesome. Without further other stuff...embedded video!!!

The Lyrics to the Song

Start up my Apple, put in the disk
Blow off the dust and start it up kids
Gonna play a game in the computer lab
Cuz my teacher said my work was so fab
Playing Oregon Trail I got to choose my occupation
Farmer or banker,
what’s my vocation?

When I was younger I named my wagon mates after my friends.
I needed them for what’s around the next bend.
Sometimes I named them after my enemies
So I could laugh when they die of a deadly disease! (2 beats)

(DYSENTARY!)

Hook up my oxen, fill up my wagon.
Po-po’s on my back, cause my pants are saggin’!
Ridin’ out of Independence, M O
Gonna go make Oregon my new home
Kickin’ it at a steady pace
And stuffin’ filling rations into our face
first roll up to the Kansas River Stop
There’s so many folks here, this block is hot!
I think about what to do as I sit
Do I ford the river or do I (4 beats)

CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)

Finally we arrive at Fort Kearney
We was going so fast that we was early.
So we kept chuggin’, on and on
Gonna keep ridin’ from the break of dawn.
All the way until the sun does set
We gon’ make it son, now don’t you fret.
Now it’s getting’ tough, I don’t know what to do
The trail is awfully rough, I really don’t have a clue
We lost the trail and we lost a day
Should’ve left earlier, maybe in May.
My rations are meager my wagon ain’t stacked.
I be sufferin’ all day from Indian attacks!

Finally I get to Fort Laramie,
Flip to disk two the game tells me.
I switch the disk and I take a break
Got a long way before the River
(comma) Snake.
I guess I’ma stop for a day or two more
Gotta get my health up from very poor.
I wasted all my chedda’ on my spinna spokes,
now I can’t buy nufin’ cuz I’m broke.

Come to the Green River later down the way
I didn’t want to risk the lives of my partay
So I thought about takin’ the ferry this time
Cuz I traded an ox for an extra dime.
But I thought to myself, “That’s so stupid”
so I…. (4 beats)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)

The Wild fruit be savin’ my back
When my peeps be havin’ a snack attack.
We ran out of food on day 38
It’s not my fault, don’t playa hate.
Since I had no food, I had to hunt for some
Man those bunny rabbits sure can run
I shot too many buffalo in the back
I can’t carry that much in my sack
The game says I can only take 100 pounds,
DANG I wasted too many rounds!

The pace is strenuous we goin’ so fast
That wagon next to us about to get passed.
This trip is tough, Why do I bothera,
I need to slow down, My wife got cholera.
HOLD UP!! (MIKE) (Josh rewinds)
My daughter got a snake bite on her face,
might as well kick it up to a GRUELING PACE
Gotta rush up to the next stop
We ain’t got no time to stop
Gotta get her medicine before she dies
I get more points with people alive!
And when to the next river I do arrive
you know I gotta. (4 beats)

CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)

There’s a heavy fog, there’s little grass.
My wagon’s yoke broke from goin’ so fast.
There’s little hope, I don’t know how we’ll last.
I’m quickly running out of gas.
There’s something on the horizon at last.
It stands tall, like a pirate ship’s mast.
We get to Fort Boise by the skin of our teeth
Gonna have to rest for about a week.

(echo week and fade) (Josh beatboxes and Mike gets crowd up)

We’re gonna have to get started once again
We’re almost there, my little friend.
Get to one last river what we gon’ do? (4 beats)

CAULK…
no no no, hold up, hold up!
(stop everthing…Josh will get nod to start again)

Raftin’ down the river is my favorite part
Slidin’ past those boulders is a work of art
Can’t go too fast cause I’ll smash my wagon,
Can’t go to slow or I’ll be draggin’
One last turn and we’ll be there
breathin’ in that fresh Oregon air.
Get to the Willamette in Oregon
It’s feels great to finally be done.
I beat the game but I got to play one more
I gotta beat my little brother’s high score.

Now don’t take this lightly, this game is life
It taught our generation how to deal with strife.
The newest version of OT is lame.
It just isn’t anything close to the same
Gimme my black, green, blue on my screen,
That version of the game is supreme.
Play the game, do your best
and please son you best not forget
you gotta…

CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT (FLOAT IT)
CAULK THE WAGON AND FLOAT IT

Things of a various nature

  • Tonight we had ourselves an 'iteam mixer'. We had people from different iteams hanging out and it was fun. Then I went and hung out with people to celebrate Mike Azzi's birthday. It was also fun.
  • I have a webpage that google facilitates. They allow for a some crazy amounts of things nowadays. I think they're taking over the world.
  • We also had a dinner to celebrate iteam leaders and apprentices, and it was a great honor. I really felt encouraged by it. It was great to be built up and told that I'm doing a good job. Alison chose a verse that she thought of with each person and she really honored me by choosing 2 Timothy 1:7
  • Tomorrow is the big night for our performance. You will hear more about it come time...but I can't reveal any secrets other than it's for Entertainment Night before SNG and it involves a group of us rapping. It's gonna be sick!
  • I've felt good as of late and this last week has been really relaxing preparing me for a very busy bit of weeks left. I just have to push through and really work hard because I want to do well and honor my parents...and frankly stay in school :)
  • I got nothing else
SOTD - 8-10 - Derrek Lee, the Cubs first baseman, is slated to be out for 8-10 weeks after a broken wrist from a collision. That sucks....

Switchfoot etc.

In an effort to not do much, I decide to blog post, which is always a good idea. I went to the Switchfoot concert on campus on Tuesday and I wasn't planning on going, but I was offered a ticket at the last moment so I went. It was really great. There are pictures on my facebook from the show. It rocked al lot and they played my favorite song first. It was very 'dirty'.

I have an exam tonight, so I must study, but I thought I'd let y'alls know that I'm doing great. I'm gonna be helping out with the UofI football team next year being an equipment manager and getting myself around the coaching staff in hopes of learning a lot to help me further down the road when I am hopefully coaching. I'm very excited about that and it will be a great thing to do with some of my free time.

One more thing. Check this out because it is SICK. The kid who makes the dunk in this video is going to play for Illinois...BOOYA!!

iTunes fun

I ganked this from Spence's XANGA...

Instructions: Put your iTunes on shuffle. Use the song titles to answer the questions!

01 -- How does the world see you?

Illusion by Creed (Hehe)

02 -- Will I have a happy life?

Alien by Third Day (I am an alien in this world)

03 -- What do my friends think of me?

I Don't Wanna Know by A New Found Glory (Thanks guys)

04 -- Do people secretly lust after me?

Are You Gonna Be My Girl by JET (I think I'll take that as a compliment)

05 -- How can I make myself happy?

Reflections of You by Krystal Meyers (We'll say the 'you' is God)

06 -- What should I do with my life?

Singular Indestructible Driod by Papa Roach (Well...)

07 -- Will I ever have children?

New Design by Thousand Foot Krutch (They'll be a whole new breed)

08 -- What is some good advice for me?

Clothes by BarlowGirl (Yes I have BarlowGirl...what's it to ya)

09 -- How Will I Be Remembered?

Hangman by Motion City Soundtrack (Now this is getting scary)

10 -- What's my signature dancing song?

America by Chris Tomlin (This song does not have a dance beat, but apparently I make it work)

11 -- What's my current theme song?

Echo by Incubus (I really want to fudge and say Skies So Blue by The Rocket Summer)

12 -- What do others think is my current theme song?

Inspiration (Joy Electric Remix) by Sanctus Real (I'm joyfully inspirational, that works)

13 -- What type of women do I like?

She's Got Issues by The Offspring (GREAT [sarcasm] ....although it's better than the track I skipped over that was just an Bud Light Commercial)

14 -- What's my love life like?

A Beautiful Collission by David Crowder Band (Ok, I skipped over a Led Zeppelin song, but I've never heard it and it wasn't good. This one describes it a lot better)

Conclusion:

More time has been wasted, some personal issues have been brought to the front by my iTunes, which is clearly more intelligent than I initially thought. I wasn't completely sure of the rules, so I skipped a few songs, but otherwise, I think it worked out ok.

SOTD - 2 - I'm home for 2 days.

Skies so Blue

Now the skies such a sweet blue
You made this come true.
My heart feels so new, whoa...
Its now wonderful to
See beautiful views.
Like skies that are so blue, whoa, whoa!

-Skies so Blue (The Rocket Summer)

Nothing describes yesterday completely with every lyric than this song

SOTD - 6 - The Cubs played the Reds this week and it wasn't pretty. In the first game of the series, we gave up 6 homeruns. WOW

I could literally smily ear to ear and just sing and jump and do all those things...and I have an exam tomorrow...

SO basically....Today was about the greatest day ever. I've been in a funk lately of just feeling disconnected from my non-class folks. And last night at iTeam and other thoughts just really helped me realize where I'm at and allowed me to look at how I can manipulate what I'm doing where I am in school and enjoy it and still invest in people. Basically I feel like I was pouring into school a ton and school just doesn't have the ability to give back to me. So I realize I need to pour into people...not just classes, so people can pour back into me. It's very important. Then today was GORGEOUS. I can't remember such a beautiful day ever. I just wanted to smile the whole time and just really glorify God with everything. I felt like I had the energy to interact with people that I haven't had before. I had the energy to study. I spent all day outside almost. Studying, talking, and eating ice cream were what I did. It was great. The day started off as a smash with lunch with Jeff. We talked for 2 hours and it felt like 15 minutes. It was glorious and amazing and awesome. He really helped me and fed into me as I did to him. We get to do life together and that's spectacular. Other than that, I studied hard and saw a ton of people. I got challenged and encouraged by nearly every one of them. Did I mention the weather? Amazing. ANd then I got to eat dinner with friends and then I studied with Pat. I really will just pray he knows what needs to be known to finish this test well. I love that kid and I want him to put in the work and get the return. Now I've got an exam tomorrow and I get to go home!!! YEA!! I'm excited for that experience. It's going to be a great one. I love it.

GLORY!!!

Baseball season has begun in a most glorious fashion

Oh wondrous day. The Cubs have swept the Cardinals in a most convincingly awesome fashion. They need to get up like this for every team and we have got a chance. I am excited!!! WOOT!!!!!! Now I have an ECE exam tomorrow night, and I don't think I've ever been so prepared for a test. I've been studying a ton with my study buddies and we're gonna nail this down like no other! Booya!!

SOTD - 4 - The number of runs, in case you didn't know, in a Grand Slam. The Cubs has one this weekend against the Cards to win on Sunday.

Wonder

I wonder why I write less on my blog...is it that I'm busier, is it that I think things in my life are less relevant...what are these reasons? Maybe I just don't have time, or maybe because I journal to myself. I do not know this, nor do I care too much.

Right now I am chillin' in my room talking with Imig about AMD vs. Intel processors. Just the randomness we talk about is pretty dang sweet. I'm stoked about living with him and Justin next year...especially with the crazy fun we have. Also with watching the Cubs, it'll be sweet. Speaking of the Cubs...friggin' 3-2 win today over the Cards. One more win and we could have a special thing. Derrek Lee nailed a solo shot to put us ahead and it was glorious.

Tonight at SNG the anouncements went phenominal as I used slang flash cards and implemented them into the anouncements. Kaylin also did them with me and replaced Julianne since she was gone with her mom. Speaking of moms, my mom and dad came tonight! I was suprised and stoked and excited and many other adjectives. They are great. They came to SNG, and then we went to the Courier Cafe and had a killer time hanging out and catching up. I love it!! My parents are so great...I love them.

As for other things...I feel affirmed as an engineer now! This is most exciting as I have not before. I am excited to be an M.E., as I have a study group, my advisor said I was just fine, I have buddies that are juniors in M.E. and can help me through, and I have a confirmed ability to not be an engineer after I graduate. It's so liberating.

I also need to be getting ahold of the football team staff as I would love to help out this coming fall, especially as I have my schedule basically figured out. It's very exciting! In fact, things are going quite swimmingly right now...too bad I know that won't last. But I'll take the bad in stride and use it to grow by leaps and bounds.

Currently I am not watching Pirates of the Carribean. Anybody else excited about the new movie coming in the fall? I ams. But I think now is the time for the bed. Have a fine day and God bless.

SOTD - 0 - Carlos Zambrano pitched today for the Cubs and gave up two runs, but these were off of errors by other players and he ended up with a 0 ERA for the game....sweet

depressing reminder

Florida..that's so depressing. I hate it. They don't DESERVE a national championship....I know, who am I the judge to say who deserves a national championship. I actually have no right to say who deserves what, but I think it just makes me sad that they won. They don't feel as passionately about their basketball as a lot of schools...they're a FOOTBALL school, and they've won a basketball championship. It's so depressing. Now, let it also be known that this would be less depressing if I didn't know somebody that went to Florida, if they didn't have the colors orange and blue, and if it wasn't 1 year after we lost our national championship game to one heck of a team. Florida had to play GEORGE MASON in the Final Four...not Louisville. The differences are ridiculous and it just shows how important and different each year is. THIS TRULY pisses me off, and I know it's immature, stupid, and immature again. But I don't care. *pouty face*

WOW...I just wanted to punch that dick in the face. Swinging his hips right in the face of UCLA players...real sportsmanshiplike (Yes, I'm aware I'm not being very sportsmanlike). I can definitely feel for the UCLA contingency there in the building though. I can first hand tell you what it's like to be at a national championship and lose...UGH...empty feeling in my gut...YES. Thank the Lord that he is alive though!!! AMEN...that was helpful...still depressed though.

On another note....story from my ME300 professor: This is a paraphrase of what he said...

Today's weather reminds me of a story. There was a firefighting helicoptor out and about and it got lost flying around. The pilot finally, in desperation, flew up to an office building and held up a sign saying "Where am I?" The response came from the building in the form of a sign that said "In a helicoptor." The pilot then flew back immediately to the Seattle airport with no troubles. Telling his story later to his fellow pilots, they asked him how that allowed him to know how to get back. The pilot responded, "Well, since I was given information that was technically correct, but completely useless, I knew I was at Microsoft Headquarters and was able to fly home from there."

SOTD - 1-0 - The baseball season has started into full swing, and the Cubs are indeed 1-0 after the first game. Let's hope this trend continues and they end up 162-0...
